After years of failure and frustration within the MLM industry I have finally realized the number one secret to building a business. Actually there are several MLM secrets, but we will take a look at each of them one by one. I do not care how you look at it, which way you spin the facts, truth be told this is a numbers game. Let’s think about this for a minute, the person who is talking to two people a month about their business will never be as successful as the person who is talking to hundreds, or maybe even thousands of people a month about their business opportunity. Every leader in this industry will tell you talk to ten, seven will say no, two will be a maybe and one person will be good prospect for your business. Now this one person may or may not join your business and it may be a combination of the three. Statistics are different for everyone, but you will never know your statistics until actually begin marketing your business.

A popular nighttime news program did a documentary about one of the largest network marketing companies in history, probably the most popular and I know if I said the name you would immediately recognize it. The reporter spent almost the entire hour speaking to angry distributors that had nothing good to say about the company. Failure after failure, the reporter kept going after the negative side of the business. The fact is, nobody that has ever quit anything in life has ever succeeded. The last couple of minutes of the program, the reporter interviewed one of the most successful distributors within the industry. This reporter questioned the successful distributor and specifically asked what his secret was.

The very successful distributor, without any hesitation told this reporter that there is no secret. When he began his business he shared his opportunity with 1200 people, 900 said no and 300 said yes. Out of that 300 there were 80 people that took the business seriously, and out of those 11 people made him a millionaire. Of course many of those distributors within his organization also made a great fortunes with their own businesses.

The song remains the same, talk to anybody in any industry or any home-based business and they will tell you the same facts about their opportunity with success. Of course there are other variables, a good example would be what company are you promoting. Your opportunity does matter whether you succeed or not. So be careful when choosing your opportunity. Don’t get yourself caught up in some illegal scam, or a company with un-reachable income.

So the next time you see some fancy website that talks about MLM secrets, be warned you already know the secret. It should not cost you anything for somebody to tell you… You just have to get started. You need to learn how to generate your own leads, or find a good lead source to buy MLM leads. Of course, I know you’ve heard the saying if you continue to do what you’ve always done, you will continue to get what you already have. So stop complaining and looking for the next fountain of youth, do not complicate this and realize your success is only a decision away. Your decision, not mine or anybody else’s.

Most people that get started with building a business on the Internet do not have a basic understanding of what a network marketing strategy is. I know you really got excited when your company gave you that self replicating web page and your up line told you to go advertise. During this initial contact you never want to come across as a salesperson. You always want to position yourself as a leader, even if you’re brand-new. I must say that I am not a distributor for Arbonne, but my wife has used some of their products in the past and was very happy with them. One would be hard pressed to find any bad comments about their products.

No doubt quality products are vital to the success of any company. But this is just a good example for those that are trying to build a business by leading with your primary opportunity.

Branding you, not your opportunity is the key to building a big organization. Advertising self replicating websites only promotes the company that owns them.

It is always better to promote you, brand you. Companies come and go. Offer solutions for the problems that most people have. Create relationships that go beyond the opportunity. Help others and you will find yourself very successful.
