The reason why most people quit is because they become unfocused. If they learn anything at all it usually just enough to make everything very confusing. You find yourself becoming a jack of all trades and master of none.

One of the biggest mistakes that people make is listening to somebody who tells them, the money is in the list. You have some big shot teaching you everything about sales. Folks this is not a sales business, this is a people business. Study and understand people, and people will build your business. It is as simple as that.

Think about it like this, you don’t need to learn how to build an engine in order to drive a car do you? Then why would you ever want to spend valuable time learning everything there is to know about a vitamin supplement. Once you fall into this trap it begins a never ending cycle of trying to master compensation plans, product ingredients, scientists and all the things about this business that will never grow your business.

You begin the process of trying to sell your product or your opportunity and nobody likes to be sold to. I can hear the conversation now, my company is better than your company because…

My pay plan is better than your pay plan because…

This type of marketing only works for about 15% of the population. So if you really love being sold to, get yourself into a sales business.

Most marketing systems out there are designed to close people, again this falls right into the sales category. Most trainers will teach you to screen and close. If someone is on the fence then move on generating more leads. These marketing systems are designed for a small portion of the population. They have nothing to offer other than affiliate programs that are designed to take your money.

How do you feel about making money from those people that will never join your business? Most trainers will teach you this is okay, but here’s the problem. You will begin to take the focus off your company or your product that you feel so strongly about. You’ll find yourself building a marketing system and not a lifelong business.

Become a student of the industry. People join people that they know, like and trust. If your up line is teaching you these skills, chances are you’re not making any money. You’re frustrated and in just a few short weeks you will start looking for something else to do.

People need to be allowed to make up their own minds. You do not need to learn how to close somebody in order to build a big business. I will promise you this, if you have to close somebody in order for them to join your opportunity, you will have to close them each and every month. You will never, ever create lifelong friendships and you will find yourself having to rebuild your business each and every month.

As a matter of fact, some systems even state in their terms that they will contact your list from time to time. Most people do not read terms of service or policies. It cost money to set up websites & auto responders, usually thousands of dollars. It is much easier to pay a small monthly fee and have these tools work for you.

But what happens when you work hard or spend money to generate leads for a business opportunity and all of a sudden the owner sends them an email about their business???? Is that right???

I say no, period!

The only exception would be if the owner of the marketing system makes it very, and I mean crystal clear, upfront that they can contact your list….otherwise its fraud.

The biggest problem is how would you even know? Not sure about you but I do not know anything about programming. Does one really know what they are downloading and installing on their computer?

The bottom line is make sure you know who your in business with before you stake your reputation. It is so hard to recover from a bad business deal, especially online.

Become a student of the industry and learn how to spot scams. Take a moment to read terms of service or policies and you will be surprised what is in there. There is nothing worse then building a list of names or a business, only to have to start over because someone stole your hard work. Learn how MLM marketing systems work before actually joining the next ‘DEAL’.

If you ask 100 people that are looking to create additional income from home what their 2 biggest struggles are…most of the time it would be lead generation. Finding people to talk to is one of the biggest reasons people fail in this industry. Here is why.

They do not have a list.

The list I am talking about is a daily action plan for getting leads. So many of us fall victim of this, including myself. We all get caught up with checking our email, watching some video or looking for the magic bullet for generating leads.

This type of activity will never grow your business. Busy work I call it. If you have only an hour to work, email will suck the energy and that hour away.

The only way you will ever be able to generate your own leads is to learn one of the skills. Once you begin to generate leads you learn another skill. Your ultimate goal should be to have 4 or 5 places that are generating you leads on a daily basis.

If you have 2 leads a day coming in from 4 or 5 places…wow that is about 10 leads a day. I do not know anyone that would turn down 10 leads a day. Folks you have to start somewhere.

No doubt everyone should have a blog. I like to think that a blog is your home on
the internet. Owning a little piece of the web is one of the best ways to begin
to brand you. We all know that people join people and if your spending your time
trying to market your business…you are wasting time and money.

There is not any shortage of business opportunities online. A couple of minutes
on google searching key terms like, ‘make money online’ will no doubt bring you a
flood of choices. Most people already have a business and need help with
marketing. You quickly get caught up with the ‘My business is better than yours’
argument.

Bad Idea. The second biggest struggle is self development. I would say that
marketing and self development are the 2 biggest struggles people have. If you
want to have fun building your business, look for ways to solve peoples
problems…not offering a new one.

Having a blog is important but do not spend all of your time trying to generate
leads from it. It takes time to rank for keywords and if your sponsoring people
in your business, the first 90 days is very important.

Fish where the fish are.Using tools like listbuilders, classified ads, ezines and even traffic exchanges
can be quick ways to generate leads for a business. But here is the critical point that I want to make.

You need a generic marketing system that covers all of the basis. A system that
allows a new person to leverage the system on their weaknesses. Having the
ability to grow mentally is one of the most important aspects of building your
MLM business.

There are plenty of marketing systems out there that teach people how to market
online. But I can only think of one that teaches people how to become a better
person. Have you ever heard the saying, ‘In order to make more you have to become
more?’

The moral of the story is that people need a marketing system that covers every
area of success. One that is not designed to make the owners rich. One that
allows you to become a professional pointer. One that allows the new person to
begin to brand themselves as the expert.

Help enough people get what they want, kind of a system.

keywords are the phrases or words that are being searched for on the internet. Pick your favorite search engine and everyday millions are typing words in, hoping to find the information they are looking for. It is important to know how many times a phrase is being searched and what type of competition is out there.

Long tail keywords are just that. A phrase or term that is longer than say, 3 words. So instead of searching for ‘network marketing’ someone maybe typing in ‘network marketing home based business’. Usually the longer the phrase the less competition, which means high ranking for you. That is the name of the game, right?

Creating your own long tail keywords is easy. Lets say you find a nice phrase that is between one and three words. Nice phrase is one that is searched for at least 1000 per month and has little or no competition. Lets pretend that the phrase, ‘MLM training’ is one of those phrases. You could easily add a word or two in the beginning or the end of the phrase. ‘Free MLM training’ or ‘MLM training for beginners’ are a few examples. What your doing here is making the term sound natural and also adding a little bit of your own pizazz.

If your building a network marketing business and looking to rank organically with Google, you need to stay creative and natural. Search engines are making things harder to rank for, especially the make money at home crowd.

Do a little keyword research, brainstorm some ideas and get to writing good, original content. Stay away from gimmicky techniques that will get your site sand boxed or banned. Do not waste valuable time or money on your reputation.
