Still struggling with your business? Download Your Free eBook and learn Why You Deserve Success!

Most people that start a home-based business usually never stick around long enough to make any money. Learning how to generate your own targeted leads is important but knowing what to do with them is vital. You could be generating 100 leads a day, but if you’re not sponsoring anyone into your business your not making any money. Let’s take a look and see what you can do to change this.

The reason why most people quit is because they become unfocused. If they learn anything at all it usually just enough to make everything very confusing. You find yourself becoming a jack of all trades and master of none.

One of the biggest mistakes that people make is listening to somebody who tells them, the money is in the list. You have some big shot teaching you everything about sales. Folks this is not a sales business, this is a people business. Study and understand people, and people will build your business. It is as simple as that.

Think about it like this, you don’t need to learn how to build an engine in order to drive a car do you? Then why would you ever want to spend valuable time learning everything there is to know about a vitamin supplement. Once you fall into this trap it begins a never ending cycle of trying to master compensation plans, product ingredients, scientists and all the things about this business that will never grow your business.

You begin the process of trying to sell your product or your opportunity and nobody likes to be sold to. I can hear the conversation now, my company is better than your company because…

My pay plan is better than your pay plan because…

This type of marketing only works for about 15% of the population. So if you really love being sold to, get yourself into a sales business.

Most marketing systems out there are designed to close people, again this falls right into the sales category. Most trainers will teach you to screen and close. If someone is on the fence then move on generating more leads. These marketing systems are designed for a small portion of the population. They have nothing to offer other than affiliate programs that are designed to take your money.

How do you feel about making money from those people that will never join your business? Most trainers will teach you this is okay, but here’s the problem. You will begin to take the focus off your company or your product that you feel so strongly about. You’ll find yourself building a marketing system and not a lifelong business.

Become a student of the industry. People join people that they know, like and trust. If your up line is teaching you these skills, chances are you’re not making any money. You’re frustrated and in just a few short weeks you will start looking for something else to do.

People need to be allowed to make up their own minds. You do not need to learn how to close somebody in order to build a big business. I will promise you this, if you have to close somebody in order for them to join your opportunity, you will have to close them each and every month. You will never, ever create lifelong friendships and you will find yourself having to rebuild your business each and every month.

Is Your Marketing System Stealing Business From You?

I must say that everywhere you turn someone has a new system designed around lead generation. More now then ever before people are starting to realize the importance of branding YOU. Unfortunately not everyone in this industry is honest. I have heard about programmers designing systems to take leads from other peoples websites.

As a matter of fact, some systems even state in their terms that they will contact your list from time to time. Most people do not read terms of service or policies. It cost money to set up websites & auto responders, usually thousands of dollars. It is much easier to pay a small monthly fee and have these tools work for you.

But what happens when you work hard or spend money to generate leads for a business opportunity and all of a sudden the owner sends them an email about their business???? Is that right???

I say no, period!

The only exception would be if the owner of the marketing system makes it very, and I mean crystal clear, upfront that they can contact your list….otherwise its fraud.

The biggest problem is how would you even know? Not sure about you but I do not know anything about programming. Does one really know what they are downloading and installing on their computer?

The bottom line is make sure you know who your in business with before you stake your reputation. It is so hard to recover from a bad business deal, especially online.

Become a student of the industry and learn how to spot scams. Take a moment to read terms of service or policies and you will be surprised what is in there. There is nothing worse then building a list of names or a business, only to have to start over because someone stole your hard work. Learn how MLM marketing systems work before actually joining the next ‘DEAL’.

Are You An Email Hoarder?

Have you found yourself subscribing to everything and anything? Next thing you know it your in box is getting emails from so many different places…packed.

I have even gone as far as to get another email account for all of my crap. A ‘Throw-a-way’ email box…Is this crazy or what?

Email is the quickest way to loose focus on your business. There is a big difference between being busy and progress. Sifting and sorting through hundreds of emails each morning is not progress. I have found the easiest way to organize this…

STOP IT!

UN-subscribe from everything you do not need. You can only concentrate on on thing at a time anyway. If you give someone your email address for some free information or a tool you might need, great. But once the information is no longer relevant to your goals…dump it.

Trust me, your not doing anybody any favors for staying on their list…just for the heck of it. If your subscribing to feeds and trying to get ideas, good. Grab a few that you can relate to and organize them into folders.

Gmail is a great tool for this. Take a few moments to regain control of your in box and begin to manage your time better. Spend your energy on your business, not reading about someone else.

If your not yet using articles or videos to drive traffic to your squeeze page or blog, then your missing the big picture. Hmmm, what is the big picture you say?

Long term traffic, best part its free.

Lets face it, search engines love content. Original, relevant and most importantly educational. The more you give the search engines the more traffic to your site, its just that simple. Where most people miss the boat is promoting the promotion.

Here is how it works.

Create a piece of original content. It can be a video, article or blog post. Make it educational and relevant. If your site is about network marketing, don’t create content about hunting or fishing. Make sure your using anchor text in the resource box that includes the keyword your trying to rank for. Next submit your content and wait for it to get approved.

Next, create another piece of content announcing your first piece. Very similar to television ads promoting a new series or movie. This piece should be just a ‘snip-it’ talking about your original piece. Now you will want to include a link back to the original content.

Original content points back to the site your promoting and the smaller piece announcing points back to the original content. Promote the promoter.

A good example of this would be you create a video about writing articles. Its informative and in the description you have a link back to your lead capture page. Next you need to create a short article, maybe with hubpages or squidoo announcing your video. This article should have a link pointing back to your video.

Keyword research insures you pick a good term that does not have a lot of competition, then you should see results within a week or so. Maybe sooner!

It is not mandatory to promote the promotion, but you will find that your results are well worth it.

With so many business opportunities available today on the Internet it’s difficult to determine which ones are valid. A flashy website with pictures of money in fancy cars can be deceiving at best. Anyone with a little skill can throw together one of these websites, today’s Internet game can also be outsourced very cheap. Read carefully and find out how to determine which ones are best for you and which ones are scams.

Let’s first begin with taking a look at the actual company itself. There is a clue, is it even a company at all? You should be able to do a little research using your favorite search engine and find out if there’s any negative or legitimate problems with the company. There are plenty of websites out there like MLM watchdog that you can use for free. I would also research company owners and the management. What kind of experience, good or bad do they have in the industry. Be careful where you get your information from, because there are a lot of websites that are designed just to sell you something.

Okay, let’s assume you found a decent company now how about the product. In order for it to be a legitimate company there has to be a real product or service. This one is easy. A good rule of thumb to follow is, would you buy the product or service without the business opportunity attached? If the answer is no, then why would you ever consider the opportunity. Most MLM companies have great products, the problem is they are grossly overpriced. Value pricing is usually non-existent with a lot of companies. Now-a-days the company should be able to compete with traditional storefront businesses. If this is not the case then you will find yourself trying to sell your product.

Compensation plans are usually so confusing that most people have no idea how they are getting paid. This is another red flag waving right in your face. Let’s say you’re looking for a part-time job, wouldn’t you want to know how much you’re going to get paid? If the manager came out and said congratulations you’ve got the job, then hand you a pay plan that you didn’t understand. Wouldn’t you want the pay plan explained? Of course you would, salaries are easy to explain and compensation plans should be too. The best compensation plan is the one that pays the most money with the least amount of people. Now I’m talking about average volume, not some cash gifting scam. The industry average of volume for a distributor product purchase is around $150 a month. If the company you’re looking at requires more money than the industry average to qualify for the pay plan, this is another flag.

You probably have noticed that I have not mentioned anything about fancy websites, piles of money or pictures of big houses within this article. They have nothing to do with your success or whether or not you’re involved with a legitimate residual income business opportunity. Follow these simple steps and increase your chances for success by working with the right company.
