The Start Of A New Day

Good Morning! I say that with excitement because I do have so much to be thankful for.

This past week the news has been filled with the deaths of some very popular celebrity figures. The most recent the death of ‘Pitchman’ Billy Mays.

I have not spent a whole lot of time thinking about Michael Jackson, Farah or Ed’s passing but for some reason Billy Mays stayed in my thoughts for awhile. It does not matter if you liked his famous commercials or not, he was someone most everybody knew.

I must admit that I enjoyed watching his show on discovery, Pitchman. Actually my kids liked to too. The process of taking someone’s invention and marketing it to millions of viewers was pretty cool. What a great feeling it must have been for Billy to watch so many achieve the American dream of success, with their inventions.

I am sure all of Billy’s close friends and family will miss him. I know his fans will miss him, hearing that loud introduction….’I'm Billy Mays’

I guess hearing about Billy’s death hit a little closer to home for me because I enjoy selling, or sharing something that I like and use with others. I enjoy learning about the whole marketing process. This was Billy’s concept; he used everything that he put his name on. Sure it was his business, but he was always careful about what product or service he sold.

A good friend once told me, “Funerals are for the living.” So true…

So today let us all reflect a little on someone we have lost, but do not make it an excuse, not to get done the things that make it a great day for us and everyone around.

How To Network Marketing

Imagine this. It’s a beautiful afternoon. The weather is a
perfect temperature for a swim. You finish drying off and catch a
wiff of your favorite flower in the garden. After slipping on
your sandals you notice the time, 1pm. You think back when you
were working 80 hours a week, 1pm meant lunchtime was over.

You think to yourself, “Not anymore, not today.” 1pm now means
its time to get the mail, and you grin because today is payday.
You casually stroll out to the mailbox and open to find your
bonus check.

You pluck the envelop out of the mailbox and hold it up to the
sun with only your thumb and index finger. Smiling, thinking
about the time you watched that video titled, How To Network Marketing

We all have our reasons we decided to start a home based
business. I know mine are different than yours. Understanding
what it takes is a lot different than just painting a picture of
the rewards this business offers. It takes work, persistence and
self development.

I am sick and tired of those that sign people up and tell them
what they need to be doing. What kind of leadership is that?

John C. Maxwell once said, “A leader is one who knows the way,
goes the way and shows the way.”

Why do so many feel that they have to charge for this? Making
money off the backs of your leads is never going to build you
anything but a list of “Tire Kickers” at best. Marketing some
video course, ebook or marketing system that promises you can
generate 50-100 leads a day.

Those systems are only designed to make the owners a ton of
money. You will never build a big business without a mentor and
a team. Nobody will ever be interested in your primary business.

You lack of success is not your fault and I will prove it to
you. I made the short video, How To Network Marketing, to
provide you with the facts you need to build your business. This
is a people business and you have to treat people with respect.

This is how:
Provide ongoing real training and support. Teach people the
skills they need to market online for their own leads. Show
people how to brand themselves, not some company. Most important
show people how to love themselves, with self development.

You need a proven duplicatable system that has all of those
elements in place before you can build any relationships that
will last longer then a month or until the next “Deal” comes
along.

“What’s this going to cost me?”, you ask.

My answer to you is $0, just a little bit of your time so that
you can become a student of the industry.

Stop spending yourself out of business and become a critical thinker. Begin to understand that
there is alot more than just a book or course titled, How To Network Marketing.

Chapter 14 The 6th Sense

This is the second time that I have read and written about this chapter, the first since I have been back with mentoring for free.

The first time through this chapter I related everything about the 6th sense to my work as a police officer. I use it all the time at work.

For those that do not know I joined the mentoring for free community one year ago this month. It happened very quickly after my coaching call with Michael. I just felt at home after struggling so much out there on my own. I was off and running, following the recipe and working the system as it was mentored to me. I was doing quite well, both Angela and I worked together and we were having a great time…..but then it happened.

I started to look at some of those affiliate programs that Michael spoke against. Reading about that fast dollar, how exciting those “get rich quick” sales pages can be. Wow, get paid for all those leads I generate, even if they don’t join my business….I could do that!

All the while my 6th sense was telling me no, warning me. I knew that was not what I wanted to do. But I began anyway….slowly changing my advertising, lead capture pages, videos. I began to preach to the world that it was ok to create multiple streams of income. It was ok to make money on the backs of my leads (notice I didn’t say people)…pictures of fancy cars, big homes and piles of cash.

All the while….my subconscious mind was screaming at me. Why was I not listening?

Why was I not taking the advice from those that cared about me the most? Why?

Misery loves company and I would preach my negative to anyone that would listen. No bashing, but clearly dis-respecting those that took the time to help us. Those that spent hours on the phone, drove hundreds of miles, sat in my living room…those that broke bread with me late in the night, sharing their wisdom. My extended family, my new friends.

What was I thinking? Did I need to prove something to myself or what? Sure, it was easy for me to listen to my 6th sense at work. Waiting that extra second or 2 for my back up…watch out around that next dark corner. Yes, I would listen to that all day long, but how could I ignore it other times?

The worst part of the whole deal was I let my wife down. It was all the proof she needed that this whole MLM deal is a bunch of crap and it will only be a matter of time before I quit this and move on the next deal….or give up altogether. She was done.

As I write this today I am not sure what it was that grabbed me and said, “Todd, Wake the F*** up.”

But it happened in a moment, in an instant. I did not dwell or think about it for hours or days….it was quick as lightning. I woke back up and after almost 6 months I made the decision that I needed to come home….if I am still welcomed.

I called a good friend and business partner of mine and told him. It was almost as if we were thinking about the something…at the same time. We laughed, telling ourselves to chalk it up as a lesson learned. I needed a band aid and humor worked well for that.

I was not even going to pick Hills book up this week, but about an hour ago I decided to read the chapter.

WOW, it has never been more clear then right now the importance of self development. The importance of listening and learning from those that care about me the most…that care about Angela and I the most…that give the most.

The 6th sense? Daily affirmations? Self development? Believing in us until we believe in ourselves….

Yes, I believe….I believe now I am at a point in my life that I can start a new beginning of understanding why I am here.

My good friend said I could borrow this until I got my own…

The Mental Cleanse

I am not sure if any of you have ever heard of the 30 Day Mental Cleanse. It means not watching TV., reading newspapers, internet, listening to negative people, talking negative about anyone.etc Basically, “stop the negative chatter in your mind.” You know some of that Self Help Stuff.

My husband, who is a police officer, started it about 4 months ago. I am only just finishing up month one. What took me so long to join my husband you may wonder? Well…..to put it simply, I was in total denial.

I did not need Any Self Help! I have always felt I was a pretty positive person. I was convinced I didn’t need to stop watching TV or reading the newspaper to prove that. ( This from someone who reads the obituaries in the paper first…how uplifting…lol) I LOVED watching T.V. Now, I work from home so I never have time to watch T.V during the day. However…I was very much addicted to the wonderful invention called the DVR. As soon as things were settled at night I could not wait to cuddle up and watch T.V. I loved reality T.V. too. After all, it was the most dramatic.

I mean how fun watching other peoples negativity and drama , right? Oh…and did I mention that every morning I checked the news headlines on the internet…..yes, very positive indeed…NOT. I was convinced I could do all those above listed things and still be a truly positive person. Lets not EVEN get started about the listening to negative people. IT AMAZES ME THAT THE MOST NEGATIVE PEOPLE I KNOW CLAIM THEY CAN”T STAND NEGATIVE PEOPLE.

Power of Positive Thinking After watching my husband, who is a police officer totally evolve as a person in the last four months. I decided that in fact there may be something to this Mental Cleanse stuff. As many of you know, being a police officer is a thankless job. You are basically seeing other human beings at their worst. They are underpaid and underappreciated. These factors can make even the most positive person, negative. On top of all that, many of the guys my husband works with LOVE to sit around and talk about the injustices of the pay and lack of appreciation.

So, my husband went to his negative job, came home and watched the negative news, read the negative headlines, listened to negative co-workers…you get the point. He decided enough was enough. He started a new business and joined Mentoring for Free and joined the mental cleanse. It has been amazing watching his transformation. I am so proud of him. So, you could say that he was my inspiration for finally doing it for myself. Wow, the power of positive thinking!

The first week I started it was pretty difficult. I was kind of consumed with the fact that I was not supposed to watch T.V. It was all I could think about. I started reading THINK AND GROW RICH by Napoleon Hill. This book is also part of the Mental Cleanse, you read a chapter a week, write a lesson plan and then get on the phone with others doing the same thing once a week and talk about it. More about that later……The book is a hard read but amazing. So, I changed from watching T.V. at night to reading books about the power of positive thinking. Eat, Pray, Love and the Go-Giver were two of my favorites.

Also during this process I became more aware of who the heck I was surrounding myself with. I could not believe how my eyes were opened to the fact that there were many people in my life who did nothing but spew negativity. I guess I never realized it, before. What was worse….I kind of liked all that drama…oh no…..maybe I wasn’t as positive as I thought…Maybe I did need some of this self help! I would get on the phone or get together with a friend for coffee and I was all too happy to engage in some negative, judgmental talk about someone else.

This cleanse has made me realized that I enjoyed that gossip and negativity a little too much. We have a joke down here in the south that the we may say some pretty mean things but if we follow it up with “But bless their heart,”it somehow lessons the blow.

In the weeks that followed it got easier. I was so inspired by a chapter in Think and Grow Rich that I wrote a lesson plan that was picked from hundreds to be read by me on the weekly Mental Cleanse call. The people on the call that day had some pretty incredible feedback on my lesson plan. That has only inspired me further to continue this Mental Cleanse, to dig deep and really look at myself.

As one of my favorite authors says” Small minded people talk about people. Brilliant people talk about thoughts.”

I still struggle with that from time to time. I am far from perfect. I am learning as I go. In the beginning of this cleanse, I was doubtful. Now, I am excited for each next step!

Persistence & Mentoring For free

This made me think of 13 years ago when I was 21 years old and decided to move to North Carolina to fulfill my dream of becoming a Police Officer.

I had wanted to do this since I was 12 years old.

Did I mention I was 4′11 and 3/4? Yes…the 3/4 DOES matter.

As you can imagine I was told by every person I came across I was too small. These dream stealer’s told me there was NO WAY, I could become a police officer.

They said no one would ever take me seriously.

I refused to buy into that negative thinking. I was out to prove something to them and myself.

From the time I was a teenager I read every book I could get my hands on having to do with Law Enforcement. When I graduated from high school, I went on to major in Criminal Justice and graduated with a degree in that.

A friend who lived in North Carolina told me they were looking for female officers in Durham. What? Leave my parents, siblings, friends, boyfriend, perfect little small town, sheltered life for a shot at my dream? You got that right…..

I was ready to GO.

My Mom and I drove from New York to North Carolina for my first interview in the blizzard of 1995. I didn’t care that everything was closed on the way down and that you couldn’t see what lane you were in on the highway. This was my dream, right? The drive should have taken 10 hours…it took 18.

When i made it there, there was no one at the police department to interview me. There was a blizzard… everything was closed…everyone was home. The secretary saw me come in and I told her I was there for my interview. That I had driven all night and was ready to go. I said, “If they don’t realize how bad I want this job now, their crazy.” She called around and found some people to interview me.

When I walked into that interview…NEVER once did I think that I would go in that room and they would see I was 4′11 3/4 and send me away. You see, in my mind I am SO NOT 4′11 and 3/4……I walk taller, you know what I mean.

Interview went terrific. I knew I was going to get the job. Two weeks later, I did.

My parents rented a u-haul, towed my old blue pick up truck behind it and drove me down. Halfway there, I told them to take me home. I told them I was scared. I told them no way was I going to do this. My dad said,” We are not taking you home. You will do this.” They stayed for a week to get me settled and then off they went.

I was left alone, only knowing one single person in the whole state. What was I thinking? This is my dream, this is my dream, this is MY dream.

I started the academy and it was hard. Yes, I was the smallest one in the class. Yes, I struggled with shooting a 45, with a 13 pound trigger pull. Yes, I knew that to pass I had to climb a flat 6 foot high wall and drag a 140 pound dummy out of a car. Yes, I knew I had to get pepper sprayed and teargassed….. but this was MY DREAM….and I AM NOT TOO SMALL FOR ANYTHING.

I was never so scared as the day I had to get over that wall. I couldn’t eat that morning. I was a wreck…but I kept telling myself…you have come this far…you WILL get over the wall.

I held my breath and ran towards the wall…..one of my instructors was there and he whispered,” You can do this,” right before I jumped and grabbed hold. My academy class was going wild, they were chanting my name, they were all with me..I KNEW I WAS GETTING OVER THAT WALL.

Yes… you guessed it, I got over that wall.

I was a Police Officer for 8 years and will always look at that as one of my proudest achievements. I never, ever gave up. I persevered.

Now, I have joined Mentoring For Free and have another dream…..look out cause here I come! All 4′11 3/4 inches of me!

We all have walls to get over in our life….but with persistence we all can get over them.

There are people out there out there chanting YOUR name. There are people out there whispering to you that “You can do this.” Be persistent and JUST DO IT.

Simple Easy Network Marketing

Let me guess…..your upline told you to name 25 people that you know and go try to get them to join your business? Yeah well….that doesn’t work and I would not say that was simple easy network marketing.

Your 25 people may not be interested in generating income from home.

Your 25 people may be burnt out from being asked to buy yet another “great” product or join another business opportunity. Your 25 people may run in the other direction when they see you coming…wondering what the heck your gonna pitch to them now.

Would it not be wonderful to have people calling YOU and asking about your business? How fabulous would it be that every person you talk to WANTS to make extra income from home? They are sick of cold-calling. Sick of asking friends and family to buy something from them or listen to a business presentation. They WANT to learn why they haven’t been successful in businesses in the past. They want to learn simple easy network marketing, it needs to be fun!

When will some of your friends actually care about what your doing? Umm…..when your going on vacation every other month. When the expensive car is parked in the driveway, you know the one you paid cash for.

When their alarm clock is blaring at 6AM and you are rolling over to get another 4 hours sleep, because you have 7 day weekends.

That’s when they will ask what your doing.
It is SO easy to get discouraged when your warm market does not respond. I have been there. You can do something about that. We can teach you how to reach beyond your warm market.

You won’t have to be disappointed or discouraged, anymore.

The Energy Drink Market

Hey, I’m a stay at home Mom with two little girls ages 5 and 7.
I also run a business.
